Emotional Baking with Cat Anderson

Heya! I’m going to try out creating my own super duper awesome recipes, written the way I think they should be written and NOT the way they have always been done … cause I don’t want to be like Brigg’s Gramma.

But first, let’s talk about Learning how to bake!

In Bake Believe, I learn all about the magic that happens when you combine ingredients and do funky things like beat egg whites into fluff!

I wish I’d learned to bake sooner! So, I’m going to share my Super Duper Simple Tips for Beginner Cooks! Trust me people, if I can learn it, you can learn it.

Tip One: Learn to like Washing Dishes.

UGH! Right?! Yeah, but when you cook and bake, you mess up A LOT of dishes – making peace with the chore really helps! TRUST ME!! If you need some help making peace with things – check out Robyn’s page for tips on Yoga and Mindfulness!!

Tip Two: ASK before you Bake!!

Yeah, learned that one the hard way! After all the trouble I caused in Bake Believe, BELIEVE ME when I say it is ALWAYS best to get your parent or Adult counterpart’s permission before baking!

Tip Three: Start Small!

I know when I first started baking, I wanted to make EVERYTHING! But there are definitely some things that are more complicated than others!

Rice Krispies are my favorite, it’s the first thing I REALLY made my own. I mean, Aunt Marissa helped me with Biscuits, Robyn helped me make Cookies, Cupcakes and Bread, My Kitchen Group in Culinary worked with me to make all those other things, but these I tweaked and twisted until I got the very best Rice Krispies in the world! They are pretty special!

Below you’ll find my recipe for Rice Krispies and some more super de duper de easy recipes to start out with.

You’re welcome!

Tip Four: Bake Happy!

That’s obvious right? How can you not? Baking is the most funnest thing in the whole entire universe so of course you’re gonna be happy while you do it.

But, before you start, you might want to check in with Robyn’s page and read some of her dumb jokes. Make sure the happy is really locked in. Just in case.

Oh! One more thing!

When you’re trying to decide what to bake, find something with good instructions. Always follow the instructions the first time you make something, then, when you get it down, you can start the fun stuff and experiment! Just don’t EVER use one of Aunt Marissa’s cookbooks! She scribbles her own notes in the margins and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to read the recipe!!
